Stem Cells Research Institute (SCRI)
DIRECTOR:
Giulio Cossu
The Stem Cell Research Institute has been created in the fall of 2000 at the H San Raffaele, to focus research on stem cell biology and their possible application in cell therapy protocols. The Institute is currently comprised of several groups, which study the origin, the phenotype and the differentiation potential of neural and mesodermal stem cells. Moreover, the different groups have also research projects on the activation of myogenesis by Wnts, on the role of Tbx in brain development and of different models of degenerative diseases of the nervous system (Parkinson, Alzheimer and Huntington) and muscle (muscular dystrophies).
