The major focus of the group is the molecular characterization of pathogenetic mechanisms leading to neurodegenerative inherited diseases. This is accomplished by a range of complementary approaches ranging from human genetics to cellular and animal model development.

We have entered the age of genomic reductionism, where everything, it seems, has to have an explanation embedded in our genome sequence.
