My main research interest is neurotransmitter secretion, and in particular whether synaptic vesicle can directly recycle from the presynaptic membrane (kiss-and-run).
My major expertise is in the analysis of biological signals: I developed an original procedure of noise analysis for the quantitative evaluation of synaptic recordings (neuromuscular junction, sympathetic ganglion and the first sensory synapse in the labyrinth). Recently, I have been mainly involved in mathematical modelling of biological systems: actin polymerization, calcium distribution in the cell, receptor cross-talk, simulation of molecular biology experiments, signal processing at the neuronal synapse, kinetic modelling of neurotransmitter quantal turnover, modelling of the molecular mechanism of neurotransmitter transporters.
