Curriculum vitae

He studied at the University of Turin, graduating in 1987 (laboratory of Prof. Aldo Fasolo) with a thesis on "Neuropeptide Y characterization in the amphibian brain". In the period 1987-1995 he worked as a molecular neuroscientist at the laboratory of Chemical Senses (Dr. Frank L. Margolis) of the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology (Nutley, N.J., USA), at the University of Turin (Italy) and at the Neurobiochemie Abteilung (Prof. Yves-Alain Barde), Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry (Martinsried, Germany). In 1995 he joined the Unit of Molecular Histology (Prof. Pier Carlo Marchisio) in Dibit. In Dibit he "serendipitously" discovered p27BBP as a cytoplasmic interactor of beta4 integrin. From there, he followed the trail of p27BBP in ribosomal biology. From 1998 he is Professor of Cell Biology at the University of Eastern Piedmont, Alessandria, Italy and from 2004 he is leading the newly formed Unit of Molecular Histology and Cell Growth, built up on the structure of the Molecular Histology Unit.
