Experimental Immunology
We are trying to get insight into the mechanisms of anti-tumor immunity and how these can be harnessed or modified, using modern biotherapeutics, to develop clinical treatments for human cancer. It is infact clear that tumor cells can be recognized by the autologous immune system, which senses the difference between normal and cancer tissuess. These observations have opened the exciting possibility to exploit the immune system to cure cancer, by generating vaccines based on tumor-specific antigens
