The Unit is mainly devoted to pancreatic surgery: it represents one the highest-volume units in Europe for this type of surgery, with more than 150 pancreatic resections/year performed. It is involved in several Italian and international multicenter studies on acute and chronic pancreatitis, endocrine pancreatic tumors, pancreatic cancer, post-surgical pancreatic insufficiency, different techniques in pancreatic resections. It strictly cooperates with other clinical divisions (oncology department, radiology department, pathology department) and basic-science units (tumor immunology group, beta-cell biology group) of the Institute.
