The focus of this research unit is the study of osteoporosis and metabolic bone and mineral diseases. Through interrelated research projects, we study the mechanisms of endocrine regulation of bone and mineral metabolism, and examine clinical, cellular and biomolecular factors which determine or are associated to bone loss and skeletal frailty during aging. The ultimate goal of the unit is to translate research knowledge into the improvement of clinical practice.
